Roberta Bondar
As Canada's first woman astronaut, on the 1992 Space Shuttle Discovery mission, Dr Roberta Bondar photographed through microscopes and portholes everything from humans to the landscape of the Earth.
Roberta's travels through space made her all the more fascinated by the extremes of our own planet, as her photographs of the Libyan desert reaffirm. They are a glorious celebration of the recent political changes which have made that country's ancient treasures accessible to a wider world.
